THE CAMARGO FOUNDATION, CASSIS, FRANCE
Deadline: 1-12-2006
The Camargo Foundation, located in Cassis, France, is a residential center for scholars pursuing studies in the humanities and social sciences related to French and francophone cultures as well as for composers, writers, and visual artists (painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, video artists, and new media artists) pursuing creative projects. For scholarly projects, research should be at a sufficiently advanced stage so as not to require resources unavailable in the Marseille-Cassis-Aix region. These geographic limits affirm the Foundations identity and mission as a residence center for scholars and artists who are well into the writing/creating phases of their projects as opposed to a research facility.
The deadline for submitting applications and all supporting materials is January 12, 2007. The Foundation's campus includes thirteen furnished apartments, a reference library, a music/conference room, an artist's studio with darkroom, a composer's studio, and a studio for either an artist or a composer. Residencies are one semester (either early-September to mid-December or mid-January to the end of May) and accompanied by a stipend of $3500.
Applications are accepted online. Please visit www.camargofoundation.org/toapply.asp for more information and to complete an application.
