Hello, all--
I am now working on Volume II of Young Women's Monologues from
Contemporary Plays to be published in Summer 2007. Volume II focuses
on women (ages 15-40) and women's issues. Selections should be
language appropriate for high school/college classroom discussion,
oral interpretation of literature or staged classroom performance.
Monologues should be 2-3 minutes in length and run about 1 and 1/2
pages in print. Monologues comic or tragic, with serious characters
and "action" oriented rather than "narrative" are highly desirable.
Authors retain all copyright privileges for granting non-exclusive
reprint rights and the author copyright and contact information is
included with each monologue. An author honorarium of $25 or a
complimentary copy of Volume II is provided for those included in the
new collection. (If you have not seen a copy of the monologue
collections already in print please check the amazon.com web site for
a view.)
Special features of Volume II will include a chapter of
monologues--not from longer published/unpublished
playscripts--written especially for classroom auditions and
rehearsal; duo-scenes between (2) women or (1) man and (1) woman that
run 5-6 minutes or about 4-5 pages; and a chapter of truly
"eccentric" characters in the age range indicated. If you are
interested in submitting monologues in one of these categories please
let me know.
If you are interested, please submit your materials no later than 25
September 2006. You may email submissions or submit to my mailing
address indicated below. I look forward to hearing from you--and hope
your treasure chest is filled with interesting material for me to
read.
