The Lake Edun Foundation is offering an $800 purse for the best
original one-act play dealing with issues of body acceptance from a
Naturists perspective. While nudity may be an element within the play,
it is not required. What is most important is the originality employed
to effectively convey the message.
All original manuscripts must be submitted by May 1, 2006. Up to four
semi-finalists will be selected for performance in the fall. Lake Edun
Foundation will be responsible for producing and staging.
Prizes will be:
1st place $500
2nd place $200
3rd place $100
Submission may be made on line (PDFs) to benude@lakeedun.com or may be
mailed to:

THE SMALL PRINT
* All manuscripts must be original unpublished work.
* All manuscripts must be deemed suitable by the Lake Edun
Foundation. Playwrights should rely on the quality of their script to
carry the story rather than crudity, sexual innuendo, or demeaning
content.
* All entries must deal with issues of body acceptance from a
Naturists perspective. Information on Naturism can be found on various
sites on the Web including www.naturist.com.
* All entries must be suitable for production before Naturists
children. In other words, nudity on stage is acceptable, as naturist
children do not suffer from body phobia.
* Judging criteria will include
o Audience appeal
o Originality
o Some of the following
+ Success in conveying the need for better body
acceptance
+ Ability to portray the adverse consequences of poor
body acceptance
+ The joys of Naturism and non-sexual social nudity
+ The positive family aspects of Naturism
+ The ability to convey the beneficial impact that
living a clothing-free lifestyle can have on the family, community, and
society.
* Any entries received by May 1, 2006 will be read and evaluated.
As many as three may be chosen for semi-blocked readings during the
summer. Playwrights may make revisions and re-submit prior to May 1,
2006, if they wish. Authors submitting by this date enjoy the advantage
of evaluating audience reaction and making revisions before the May
deadline, if desired.
* Although nudity may be employed in the play, it is not required.
Playwrights should consider it if it advances their story line.
* Deadline for all submissions is May 1, 2006. Selection of the
semi-finalists will be made on the basis of manuscripts alone.
* Winners will be chosen by a judging panel. Audience reaction
will
be considered, although it will not be a controlling part in the final
decision.
* Playwrights wishing to have their manuscripts returned must
inclose a SASE.
* The copyright will remain with the playwright. Playwrights whose
entries are selected as semi-finalists agree and give to the Lake Edun
Foundation the unlimited, non-exclusive right to read, produce, perform
and otherwise use their entry until December 31, 2007. They will
receive credit for their work. The Lake Edun Foundation may charge an
admission to view these productions. Playwrights will not receive
additional funds.
* This project is partially underwritten by the Naturist Education
Fund.
