MISSION

Pensacola Little Theatre (PLT) is a nonprofit, community organization providing theatrical experiences that entertain, enrich, and educate adults and children in Northwest Florida. PLT is committed to providing quality presentations and participatory opportunities for community artists utilizing traditional, innovative, and collaborative programming. PLT presents plays and musicals, outreach programs, performances and classes for youth, and special theatrical events. PLT seeks to provide a forum for the development of new works and partners with local schools to nurture the artistic spirit of our children. The ultimate mission of Pensacola Little Theatre is to use the theatrical experience to enhance the cultural agenda of our community and to develop future generations of performers and patrons of the arts.

VISION

Our vision is to celebrate the importance of the arts in the life of our community by providing opportunities for people to use their talents in presenting theatrical productions in a state-of-the-art facility steeped in historic tradition. We believe that experiencing art in all its dimensions is vital to the fulfillment of civic and community life.

Pensacola Little Theatre seeks to engage participants in the creative process. This is a volunteer-driven, community organization. Participants engage as artists, using their imaginations and talents to explore universal themes and relevant issues. Participants engages as patrons, utilizing audience discussion programs as entryways into the artistic process. Participants engage as students and teachers, joining classes and production groups to develop artistic skills. We strive to draw many community members into the creative process to move them to change their lives, and possibly the world, in the process of making ART.

To operate the organization in a prudent and fiscally responsible manner, underwriting our ability to offer quality entertainment at reasonable cost in an attractive facility.

Pensacola Little Theatre's "Short Attention Span Theatre" is seeking submissions

for our February 2010 production and beyond. The evening consists of
six short comedies about relationships (romantic, familial, best
friends).

We're looking for plays that run six minutes to 15 minutes. Our Studio
400 umbrella allows for mature content and edgier material, but it
should be somewhat light in tone.

After we collect a few submissions, we'll hold a play reading session,
inviting actors to come and spend an evening or a Saturday afternoon
reading the plays aloud. Everyone who attends is invited to complete a
short survey, telling what they liked and didn't like about each
selection. Top-ranked plays will be offered to our three SAST
directors, who will choose their favorites for the final slate.
Results of the survey are shared with the writers, and we've had
several cases where writers considered the comments, re-wrote and
re-submitted. Plays may be submitted to our Studio 400 Chair, Rick
Jank at travelswithrick@yahoo.com.

I should also mention that we are open to reading longer one-acts and
full-length plays. Our 2009-2010 Season is set, but we'd be happy to
consider longer works for production at a later date. Anyone with
questions can contact me or Rick.
