Brooklyn Playwrights Collective
5th Annual Festival of New Works:
Dramatizing Dante
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
November 7th, 2009
Every year, Brooklyn Playwrights Collective presents a festival of new short plays inspired by the work of a single author. In the past we've covered Antonin Artuad (Cruel and Unusual: Works Inspired by Antonin Artaud), Bertolt Brecht (Beyond Brecht), and Anton Chekhov (Confronting Chekhov). This year, BPC continues their alphabetical invocation of new works by our members by presenting Dramatizing Dante, our fifth festival.
Dramatizing Dante will include 10 to 12 short plays, 10 - 15 minutes or shorter, written and produced by our members (membership is open to all who show an interest in workshopping and producing their work with BPC), all inspired by the work or life of Dante Alighieri (yes, that Dante).
Please submit your plays by email to brooklynplaywrights@yahoo.com. Preference is shown to writers in the NYC area who are willing to help with aspects of production.
The deadline is November 7, 2009. We'll make our selections shortly thereafter. We hope as many playwrights as possible will bring their Dante plays to our October 25 meeting at Irondale Theater (please RSVP to the above email) so we can hear them and so you can have a chance to do rewrites before the deadline.
