CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF NEW PLAYS
HotCity Theatre of St. Louis announces a call for submissions for the fifth annual GreenHouse New Play Festival, to be held in June of 2010.
Three plays will be selected for the Festival. These plays will receive a week-long (June 20-27) workshop with director, dramaturg and professional actors. The workshop will culminate in a public reading followed by audience response sessions. HotCity artistic staff will select one script for a fully produced world premiere as part of the company’s 2011 mainstage season.
Eligible submissions must meet the following criteria:
--received after Oct. 1, 2009 and no later than Nov. 15, 2009
--require a maximum of six actors
--running time of between 75 and 120 minutes
--never before published
--never before professionally produced, no pending productions
Submissions should include the following:
--one-page cover including plot synopsis, reading/production history, cast requirements, technical requirements (special or unusual set, lighting, costuming, sound, prop requirements)
--ten-page sample from the script

Approximately 20 plays will be selected as semi-finalists at which time full scripts will be requested. Semi-finalists will be announced no later than Jan 31, 2010. Festival finalists will be chosen from these submissions. Festival finalists will be notified no later than May 1.
