Independent Play(w)rights is a new, online publishing company that publishes and licenses the work of emerging and previously unpublished playwrights. We’re currently accepting submissions of new plays-- our website is going live later this year and we would love you to be a part of it!
Guidelines:
We’re looking for plays of all lengths, styles and genres- whatever the form or content of your play, we’d love to read it. Please e-mail your play as an attachment to submissions@independentplaywrights.com. In the body of your e-mail please include a brief cover letter telling us a bit about yourself and the play you’re submitting. You should expect to hear back from us within 1-2 weeks of submitting your play.
Publication Details:
Playwrights who are accepted for publication will be given a number of options on how their plays will be licensed. We may additionally offer to publish your play as an e-book and license non-commercial archival filming rights. The bulk of the licensing money goes directly to the playwright with Independent Play(w)rights taking a small commission.
About Us:
Founded in 2012, Independent Play(w)rights is a publishing company dealing exclusively online. Our plays can be read, e-books purchased, performance rights bought and contracts signed through our website. Faster, more convenient and environmentally friendly than traditional publishing companies, our aim is to redefine the way plays receive publication.
Unlike most publishing companies, we accept submissions of previously unperformed plays. Through the publication of these scripts we hope to increase the amount of new work produced in the United States. Our outreach to schools and universities allows us to connect up and coming directors with a new generation of playwrights. With a youthful and forward thinking vision, we hope to create new ways for original work to find its audience.
