About Theatre B and Theatre B programming:
Theatre B engages regional audiences through innovative theatrical productions that are culturally and artistically invigorating. Theatre B values creative work of high artistic integrity; a healthy ensemble and intentional family; thought-provoking art as inspiration for social action; stewardship of all resources; the theatre as an integral part of a healthy cultural community; and the continuing education of all artists
Since 2003, the ensemble and guest artists of Theatre B have brought to life a wide variety of the latest award-winning plays and bold, untested new works. Located in the renovated storefront at 716 Main Avenue in downtown Fargo, Theatre B’s unique space removes barriers between actor and audience, intensifying the experience and moving viewers to contemplate the stories long after they have left the theatre.
Theatre B accepts scripts for both our Main Stage program and our Incubator Series for new work.
Main Stage Program: Theatre B produces a four-show main stage season, presenting some of the newest, most innovative plays available for the Fargo-Moorhead region. The season spans from fall through spring, with each show running three, four or five weeks. This performance schedule is unique in the region, where Theatre B's long runs allow artists to bring the stories fully to life and gives an ever growing audience greater access to our distinctly intimate venue.
Incubator Series for new work: Theatre B is committed to the development of new work, especially work by local and regional playwrights. The Incubator series allows a playwright to see their work produced, often as part of the Theatre B Main Stage season, and may include a development process.
Play Submission Guidelines:
Theatre B accepts scripts on an on-going, year-round basis, which allows us an opportunity to search for, develop and produce plays that meet the overall criteria of Theatre B and the specific needs of a regular season.
In general, we look for non-musical, issue-oriented, thought-provoking plays. We generally have a cast limit of eight actors. You must note any double-casting in the character breakdown. Scripts must be in an easy-to-read format and firmly bound. All plays considered for our Incubator Series must be original, unpublished scripts, which have not had a professional production.
The following elements will not receive favorable consideration:
1. Screenplays or teleplays submitted as theatrical plays
2. Obvious first drafts
3. Plays with typos and spelling errors
4. Plays that are not formatted according to industry standards
5. Plays that require costly design elements
